Welcome to Primitive Texas and Louisiana (PTL)! We are an outdoor school who practice and teach primitive wilderness survival skills in Texas and Louisiana. Our main goal is to enrich people's lives with the learning of primitive living skills and bring them into a closer relationship with the earth. We are passionate about teaching and sharing knowledge with others; therefore, class sizes are kept to a minimum number of students to ensure personalized attention. There is nothing quite like the feeling of starting your first fire by friction or finding and using an edible wild plant all by yourself! Everything we teach makes our students more self-reliant and at home in the woods. So if you have a longing to "walk in the footsteps of the Indians" and develop a closer connection to the earth, come and join us!
*NEW*-Edible Wild Plants of Texas (Non-woody Species) book now available for purchase. Click on side tab for more details!
Mark Suter teaches all of the classes and programs personally. He has served as a wilderness survival consultant for the Discovery Channel, instructed cast member Lisa Welchel prior to her appearance on CBS's Survivor, and has been featured in several magazine/newspaper articles throughout the years. American Survival Guide Magazine has designated Primitive Texas and Louisiana as one of the top 20 survival schools in the United States.
